Here are the final logos for this project.
Word and Image as logo
I made a large diamond behind the word and put the dragonfly from the second assignment inside the diamond. This suggests that the jewelry has something exotic about it instead of just having the name "dragonfly" thrown onto it.
Word as logo
I tried to integrate both jewelry and the dragonfly into this logo by replacing the "o" with a diamond ring and having the dragonfly coming off the tail of the "y" with its own tail.
Letter as logo
This one gave me the most trouble. I put a ring around part of the "D" like how you would put a ring around your finger. The dragonfly comes off the other end of the "D" making it look like the entire letter is the dragonfly, looping around itself.
Image as logo
I used the diamond ring and made dragonfly wings coming out of the diamond, which suggests that it's something more exotic than the usual piece of jewelry.
great job. Can you please post the first Photoshop exercise.
ReplyDeleteAlyssa,
ReplyDeletegreat work, you obviously have talent, I would just like to see you participate more because you would have a great deal to say, and we need some one with great design sense.
a. Image: Congratulations, the use of color and line is excellent – use of central gradient in the center gives depth which seems to be overlapping onto the wings, adding softness that has a certain glow. The use of angled lines verses the curves of the ring and wings adds variety and lightness of idea and visualization
b. Image and Word: The big diamond shape works in contrast to the calligraphic style of the text and the shadow of the dragonfly and gradient give depth and integrity. Be careful of the balance between the wings and the diamond – top wings are not equal and when you are doing something professionally, it is important to get things 100%. The use of the shift in size and shape give variety and adds interest while not being too distracting. – Watch the space between the Capital “D” and the “r”.
c. word: the use of the ring as “o” tipped on its side is very creative, changing the flow of the image while not totally pausing the movement. Choice go color, yellow (complimentary) works well and is not as heavy as a cadmium yellow, remaining light as the dragonfly– and the dragonfly moving off the y implies freedom and flight. Just to be picky, I might have tilted the ring just a margin less so it does not visually connect with the “g”
d. Letter: This is very dynamic the letter as dragonfly and the ring reinforces the content of the image. Good use of line variety – the wings verse the letter. Complementary colors and value emphasize variety. Careful with the overlapping wings – they need a bit of tweaking. The change of the curved “d” end of r the dragonfly head is very playful and effective.
e. Technical: an excellent job. Your lines are well executed and images clear. Shapes are closed and your manipulation of type works. You have used layers and effects well.
